Catalina Mountains at sunset Driving down the mountain back to town

Arizona Rock Climbing

Mount Lemmon

Mount Lemmon is Tucson's crowning glory.
It rises north of the city like Leviathan. You can drive
to it via any part of the gridworks of Twentieth-Century roadway.
Both times I have climbed there, I have simply driven up the Catalina
Highway, until I got to where I was climbing (if I could find what I was
looking for). The highway itself is 27 miles long, ending close to the
9,157-foot summit, and rising 6000 feet above Tucson.
